The Team

Let us introduce ourselves...

“After training in Design and Marketing, I worked for international brands including Shell and Reebok. My passion however always was about the food and when I took over The Monro in 2003 I drove to farms to collect Wild Boar, Rabbits and fell bred lamb. The success of The Monro was immediately picked up upon by the national media and later by international media organisations from the US and Europe. In 2005, our team opened The James Monro and with careful guidance has created two distinct restaurants whose values of honesty and integrity are widely appreciated by our customers.” William Lyons, Owner of the Monro Group.

“Born in Northern Greece, I came to the UK as a student. I loved Liverpool so much I stayed on to do finish my Masters degree and then set up The Monro with William as Liverpool's first Gastropub. I always make sure that the management team maintains the high standards of cleanliness that people expect from The Monro Groups gastropubs. As the business has grown I have taken the role of Financial Director to guide the business to the opening of it's third restaurant.” Nikos, Owner and Financial Director of the Monro Group

“I am the Head Chef at the James Monro, I’m in charge of all food
operations within the James and also the Confectioner for the Monro Group. I have over a decade of experience in the catering industry with previous positions from Head Chef to Executive Pastry chef mostly within 5* establishments. This post is the most exciting I’ve had yet!” Ben, Head Chef at The James Monro

“I have about 20 years experience in Marketing and I’ve worked as Marketing and Business Development Director for the Monro Group for about 6 years now. I love that every day is so varied, whether it’s developing close Partnerships with organisations like National Museums, Liverpool Biennial 2012, and Culture Liverpool or developing and putting on fantastic Events or Functions” Helen, Business Development Director of The Monro Group

“I have managed a few restaurants, including the Ego for 5 years, and spent some time working for Oddbins Wine Merchants.  After visiting The Monro on Duke Street in 2007, I loved the place so much and decided I would like to work there. I managed the James Monro when it first opened and am now Operational Manager for both sites.  I now spend most of my time in the office but still love working on the floor and kitchens in both sites.” Ian, Operational Manager of The Monro Group
